The history of Yokat goes back to the beginnings of the C19th., to the great golden era of the Yucatan haciendas….famous for cattle and then later the cultivation and processing of henequen (sisal) fiber.  This is an excellent restoration project - one of the few haciendas with all its details complete - factory, owner’s residence (Casa Principal), workers’ houses, the original lay-out intact.

There are 150 hectares of cleared and fenced land with easy access.  Construction totals about 3500 sq meters - 35,000 sq feet - which can be restored and have incredible potential.  Plentiful water - a number of wells and tanks, plus electricity on-site….all on paved road with excellent communication.

Buildings include: Casa Pricipal with beautiful old columns and terraces, Casa de Maquinas (factory building) where the fiber processing took place, Casa de Patio to the north west of the main house, Annex to the Factory, which served historically as a ware-house, 16 workers’ houses, Mayordomo’s house, Pay Office and Company Store.  For the livestock, there is also the Main Corral and old stables, and numerous patios and remains from the henequen era, including two chimneys (one for the henequen factory and one for the sugar plant), and rails and track for the horse-drawn truck system which moved the fiber from fields to factory.
